The French dishtowel

French dishtowels are the ultimate durable and decorative kitchen linens that are easily purchased in France.  Not going to France right now, well you can find them online and in specialty stores around the USA. Be prepared to spend a few extra dollars but know that your investment is well spent.
The towels first are created by French designers who focus on style with many colors to work together creating a story from either past, present or future.  Our most popular French dishtowels , of course, are of French monuments such as the Tour Eiffel, Mont St Michel, Luxumberg Gardens, Palais Royal, and Arc de Triomphe etc.  Once you decide on your style the colors are there to enjoy.  However, some choose from colors to style, ie for Tour Eiffel in bright cherry brings the Paris en Fleur wild cherry selection, Souvenirs de Paris in red, or Paris in red.  Hard to choose, seeing them all will take a very long time.
Don't have very much time? Most French towels are created in groups of 2's or 3's with at least 3 color ways to choose from. Stick to a style and you will enjoy the variety that accumulates on your shelf.  Plan ahead and stock up when they are on sale as most are costly but remember they are invincible to the end. Process for weaving the towels is very accurate and very colorfast to keep them pristine with even our most harsh detergents. Remember, just to freshen them up, a mild detergent and mild temps for water are best.  Light ironing for the ones that are in the dryer too long. Cotton always shrinks in hot water and high temps so less shrinkage with milder waters and temps. However, you will get the urge to purchase a new batch eventually. Keep checking each season for the new and exciting patterns. There is always a good reason to buy more.

Some added fabulous selections are from French manufacturers that mix some cotton and linen blends. Beauville does this with some of their dishtowels. The feel is thicker and more durable as linen is a great scrubber kind of towel.  The patterns are screen printed versus jacquard loomed so be careful not to use too much bleach otherwise they will fade.
